WELCOME TO FORWARD HEALING THERAPY

We provide EMDR trauma therapy in a safe and supportive space so that you can restore and move forward.

Trauma comes in all shapes and sizes, and is much more common than we think. Trauma could include a divorce, loss of a loved one, pandemic, or ongoing abuse or neglect as a child. Difficult events impact us in different ways, and can make it hard to function in relationships or on a day-to-day basis. EMDR (Eye Movement De-Sensitization Reprocessing) therapy is a great way to help you move through healing quicker.

Available online and in person in Wauwatosa, WI

There is no one way to heal from trauma, however oftentimes traditional talk therapy has limitations.

EMDR is an evidenced-based intervention and a very powerful tool to help heal from trauma. Through EMDR, you will reprocess traumatic memories in a way that reduces emotional intensity and allows for more adaptive beliefs and behaviors to form.

How We Can Help You Using EMDR

TRAUMA IS AN UPSETTING AND OVERWHELMING EXPERIENCE THAT GETS STUCK IN YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM.

EMDR

We provide EMDR therapy to those ready to heal from traumatic experiences, such as car accidents, the COVID-19 pandemic, death of loved ones, sexual abuse and witnessing difficult events.

Attachment Trauma Therapy

Oftentimes, trauma happens over a long period of time and begins before we can speak. Complex and attachment trauma happens when caregivers do not provide what is needed for attachment that feels safe and secure.  Attachment trauma may also include attachment disruptions, such as adoption and foster care.

Adjunctive EMDR

We provide EMDR to clients who are already seeing an individual therapist not trained in EMDR, and who would like to continue to see their individual therapist primarily. With your permission, wecollaborate with the primary therapist to work with them and support your healing journey.

VALUES

  • I believe that all people have within them worth and individuality. I believe that you have strength within you to heal. I bring compassion and empathy to our space and I believe in the healing power of relationships, including our relationship in the therapy room.

As a social worker by training and trade, I professionally adhere to, and personally connect with, the profession’s core values and ethics.

  • I accept and respect all individuals, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, belief, race, ability or body size. I value social justice and work to identify any injustices, micro-aggressions and bias in people's lives, and empower individuals to stand up and be the voice of change.

  • I am honest, ethical, and thoughtful about my decisions as a therapist. I do not practice outside of my areas of training, and I will seek out specific consultation if needed. I continually use my resources to ensure I am providing the best care possible.

I AM A THERAPIST, ADVOCATE, WIFE, AND FOSTER AND ADOPTIVE PARENT.

pronouns: she/her/hers

I fell in love with EMDR therapy after experiencing the benefits through my own personal therapy journey.  EMDR helped me let go of the past and feel better internally. This made me want to help my clients in a deeper and more sustained way. Since receiving training in EMDR, my work as a therapist has been more fulfilling and meaningful to me.

My passion for mental health began when I was attending Tufts University outside of Boston, Massachusetts. I interned and was hired on as staff at Germaine Lawrence, a residential treatment facility for females with offending behaviors. After graduating with my BA in Clinical Psychology from Tufts University, I attended the University of Denverʼs Graduate School of Social Work. My passion for working with at-risk youth, collaborating with systems and helping individuals heal from trauma provided me with a rich experience over the next decade.

My resume includes experience in therapeutic milieu in residential treatment centers, 7 years of medical social work experience at Childrenʼs Hospital Colorado, serving as a lead intake caseworker for sexual assault investigations and later Adoptions Supervisor with Human Services, and co-therapist for groups supporting child survivors of sexual abuse. Additionally, I am an adjunct professor at the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work.

I have my License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) in Wisconsin and Colorado. I received my Level I and Level II training in EMDR in 2018 and am a member of EMDRIA.  I am an avid learner in the fields of neuroscience, trauma and attachment.
